Herbes de Provence is a blend of summer herbs from the French region of Provence, which is located within the southeast tip of France, bordering on Italy and encompassing the French Riviera. This traditional French blend is mostly popular for roasted or grilled foods, but can also be used in soups, gravies or stews. It is rarely used as a seasoning after cooking, as the cooking process is what truly brings out the different flavors in this blend, and allows the flowery notes of lavender to blend together with the other savory herbs. Very sweet smelling but quite savory, with just a touch of floral coming from the lavender, Herbes de Provence is great to have on hand for an easy way to savor classic French cooking. On roasted chicken, beef tenderloin, or pork cops: voilà, parfait.  Naturally vegan and gluten-free.
