Chile-lime seasoning

$3.19

This seasoning is inspired by a mix of spices traditionally used in Mexico to flavor fruits like watermelon, jicama, and cucumber. Other than on fruit, its slightly smoky and hot flavor profile makes it great to be used as a dry rub or mixed with mayo, yogurt, or sour cream as a spread. Also traditionally used to make Michelada, a delicious light cocktail best described as a south of the border take on Bloody Mary.

Description

This Chile-lime seasoning is inspired by a combo of chile pepper, lime juice and sea salt that is used by street food vendors in Mexico to season fresh fruit for a delicious and traditional snack. Dried chile peppers provide a foundation of heat while lime adds bright tanginess and salt rounds out the flavor profile. This bold mix of flavors provides a unique hot, tangy and salty balance that is perfect for sprinkling over fresh fruit such as mango, papaya, pineapple or melon (often traditionally accompanied by jicama or cucumber), rimming cocktail glasses or using as a seasoning for grilled meats. This seasoning is also traditionally used to prepare Michelada, a cerveza preparada-style cocktail with Mexican beer, tomato juice, and spices, which is a lighter alternative to Bloody Mary. Naturally vegan and gluten-free.
